Workshop Description
Birth work is deeply relational — not only with clients, but also with the wider community of professionals who support families before, during, and after birth. For doulas, building strong relationships with other birth workers and healthcare providers is essential for creating sustainable practices, expanding referral networks, and ensuring holistic care for clients.
This webinar is designed to help doulas and birth workers develop the skills and confidence needed to build meaningful, authentic professional relationships. Participants will explore how to navigate the birth community with professionalism, generosity, and collaboration rather than competition.
By the end of the webinar, participants will leave with clear, actionable steps to strengthen their professional connections and feel more confident engaging in collaborative birth work.

About the presenter: Shandelle Ferguson
Shandelle is originally from Newfoundland but now calls Nova Scotia her home. With a passion for changing birth culture in Atlantic Canada, you can find her chatting with other doulas, reaching out to birth professionals and helping new parents in their journey into parenthood. Shandelle is a certified Labor and Birth and Postpartum Doula with Blossom and Birth Doula Services. A mother to three, you can find her drinking coffee, or wine, and spending time with her family.
This webinar is free to members and alumni of Doula School, Discover Birth, and The Nesting Place and is $35 for external participants. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance that can be used as 1 CEU (continuing education units) at Doula School.
