What is Carrot Insurance?
Objectives
Birth work is heart work and we lead with compassion. We know that often the people who can benefit most from our care are those who are least able to pay. Funding for doula care is limited, and the rare opportunities for funded support are often confusing and complicated to access. How can we respond to the numerous requests for pro bono care from people badly in need of support while keeping our practices sustainable?
Description/workshop overview
In the first of a series of Q&As on options for funding doula care, our team member Andrea Paul will give a crash course on accessing Carrot Insurance. Carrot Fertility is an innovative health insurance program specifically for reproductive health care needs. The program has fairly complex provider eligibility requirements!
Andrea has been a practicing doula for over a decade and is very passionate about helping families. Andrea started her career as a birth doula when she saw a gap in support. As her love for supporting families grew she became a postpartum doula to help families manage and grow their confidence with their new baby(ies). She then became an infant sleep coach and lactation educator. Helping families reach their goals is incredibly rewarding. When Andrea is not busy being a doula she is helping new doulas as a trainer and mentor. In her practice and work as a doula agency administrator, she has helped several families navigate using Carrot fertility insurance to fund their care. We are grateful to have her share her knowledge with the Doula School community.
Guided by Andrea’s expertise, participants will learn:
- What is Carrot Insurance, how does it work, and where does it serve?
- What services does Carrot cover
- Who is eligible to have their care funded by this program?
- What is their provider eligibility criteria?
This interactive webinar is for doulas and birth workers who want to raise awareness and facilitate access to funding for doula services.
