Menopause Doula: The Missing Link in Reproductive Support

Doula School Canada reopens registration for the Menopause Doula Training certification and birth workers everywhere are taking notice.

When most people think of doula support, they think of pregnancy, labour, and the tender days of postpartum. But what if we told you that the reproductive journey extends far beyond the delivery room and that millions of people are navigating one of its most significant chapters without any dedicated support?

At Doula School we believe that reproductive support doesn’t end at birth and postpartum. Perimenopause and menopause affect nearly every person with a uterus, often beginning as early as the mid-30s and continuing well into the 50s and beyond. Hormonal shifts, emotional changes, physical challenges, and identity transitions mark this season of life as profoundly as any birth experience. Yet dedicated, compassionate, trained support for this transition remains rare. That’s the missing link. And Doula School Canada is proud to help fill it.

Re-Introducing the Menopause Support Practitioner Certification

We are thrilled to announce that registration is now open again for our Menopause Support Practitioner (MSP) program, one of the most comprehensive and unique menopause support certifications available anywhere.

Co-offered with course creator, longtime doula, reproductive advocate, and practicing psychotherapist in Ontario, Shaunacy King, the MSP program was built on passion, thorough research, community partnerships, expert feedback, and firsthand knowledge from those who have lived this experience.

“Tonight was amazing! Your class reminded me of my “why”. You are so warm and loving and supportive and I really admire you.”

  • Perimenopause identification, emotional preparation, and holistic support strategies
  • Anatomy, physiology, hormones, and the phases of menopause
  • Navigating menopausal obstacles like brain fog, mood shifts, bone health, and hormonal changes

  • The business of being a Menopause Support Practitioner and how to integrate this work into your existing birth or fertility practice

The full spectrum of reproductive care at Doula School Canada means showing up for all of it: conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, loss, and yes, menopause.

We are excited to host this program because we feel that training as a Menopause Doula Training is a natural and powerful extension of the doula philosophy. You will further expand how you meet clients where they are, with presence, knowledge, and care.

Whether you’re a practicing doula looking to expand your scope, a birthworker ready to serve a new demographic, or someone called to this work for the first time, the MSP program will meet you there.
