What Sets Us Apart:
- Established Excellence: With over two decades of experience, Doula School Canada is not just a training program; it’s a legacy. We’ve been at the forefront, shaping the industry and honing our curriculum to perfection. Our long-standing reputation and recognition in the field ensure you receive training from seasoned experts dedicated to your success.
- Holistic Approach: Our training goes beyond the basics. We empower you with a holistic understanding of the postpartum doula role. From emotional support for parents and practical assistance with newborn care to expertly navigating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, our curriculum equips you with a diverse skill set.
- Community-Centric Philosophy: Inspired by traditional community support, our approach recognizes that modern parents often lack the village that historically surrounded them. As a postpartum doula, you become a crucial part of rebuilding that support system, offering not just care but a lifeline during the challenging transition into parenthood.
What Postpartum Doulas Do:
- Emotional Support: Provide a compassionate presence, holding space for parents’ emotions and concerns during the transformative postpartum period.
- Practical Assistance: Offer hands-on support with newborn care, ensuring parents feel confident and capable in handling the challenges of early parenthood.
- Education and Guidance: Equip parents with valuable knowledge, building their confidence and capabilities through coaching and informational support.
- Advocacy: Act as an advocate for parents, ensuring their needs are met, and serve as a bridge to community resources, offering referrals to trusted services.
- Holistic Wellness: Address not only physical needs but also the emotional and mental well-being of families, fostering a comprehensive approach to postpartum care.

“How do I know which one to choose?”
We get that question a LOT. There isn’t ONE RIGHT ANSWER. We encourage you to consider your own learning needs. Here are some questions you can ask yourself:
- Do I learn well on my own? (important for self-directed)
- Do I ‘prefer’ to meet others and interact in class (choose live virtual or in-person)
- What would I need to do to attend in-person? (ie would you need childcare, transportation, etc)
We always believe that learning in-person is the most fun way to learn. So if you like fun (we do) then you might consider that as an option. If you live too far from an in-person course then our live virtual courses are SUPER fun also, but you learn from the comfort of home. Finally our self-directed courses are so chock full of great info and a great option for people who have inflexible schedules, young kids, or fitting their course work around another full-time job.
